According to the BBC, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have agreed a £17m deal for Neco Williams, a transfer Arsenal should take note of.
What’s the story?
Well, you may be wondering why we’ve involved the Gunners in this news.
Incidentally, we have dragged Arsenal into the conversation as the north Londoners must take a leaf out of Liverpool’s book when it comes to selling players.
For example, Mikel Arteta and Edu only managed to receive a meagre €10m (£8m) for Matteo Guendouzi, a player who has already made 208 appearances at the age of 23, while also winning six caps for France.
In stark contrast, Jürgen Klopp and Julian Ward have somehow convinced Steve Cooper to spend £17m on Williams, who, despite his talent, shouldn’t warrant such a large fee as this stage of his career.
The Welshman only has 13 Premier League appearances to his name, and Liverpool have done tremendously well to sell him for less than they spent on Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho.
The trio cost £8m, £4.3m and £4.2m respectively, a total of £16.5m.
Arsenal must learn from Liverpool

This isn’t the first time Liverpool have obtained a huge fee for a fringe player.
The Reds somehow convinced Bournemouth to spend £19m on Dominic Solanke back in January 2019, while the Cherries also spent £15m to sign Jordan Ibe from Liverpool.
There was also the £27m sale of Christian Benteke and the £26m departure of Mamadou Sakho, which again showed how efficient Liverpool are in the market.

In Arsenal’s case, they ended up terminating the contracts of Mesut Özil, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac due to an inability to shift their deadwood.
If there is one thing Edu needs to improve on in his role as Sporting Director at the Emirates Stadium, it is this.
