Liverpool may be looking to bring Ajax winger Antony to Anfield but Dani Alves is now lobbying for Barcelona to sign him this summer.

Liverpool have just signed a winger in Luis Diaz but the Reds may be wise to look at other options for the future.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are both out of contract in 2023.

Diaz seems to be a fine Mane replacement down the left, but what if the worst happens and Salah ends up leaving?

Liverpool would then be seeking a left-footed winger who plays down the right side, attempting to imitate the impact of Salah.

One of the hot names in the mix in that regard is Ajax star Antony.

90Min report that Liverpool have shown a real interest in Antony for many years and are interested in signing him this summer.

Other Premier League clubs are keen on Antony too, but it’s Liverpool who are allegedly most interested.

Amid links to Leeds United star Raphinha, you can understand appreciating the profile of Antony too; Brazilian, skilful, left-footed whilst playing on the right.

Antony has been superb this season, racking up 12 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

Whilst a little frustrating at times, Antony can produce moments of magic and at just 22, he looks like being a star of the future.

Liverpool will now face a battle for Antony though as Barcelona could end up making a move.

That’s because Barca legend Dani Alves is telling the club to make a move for Antony. The pair played together in Brazil with Sao Paulo.

Alves seemingly believes Antony is absolutely the right kind of player for Barcelona and is adamant that he should be brought to the Camp Nou.

That would be a blow for Liverpool if Antony is the preferred successor to Salah, though others will of course be on the radar.

Alves – the hero of Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnoldalmost joined Liverpool himself back in 2006 but ended up at Barca instead.

Liverpool will now hope that Alves doesn’t come back to haunt them by leading Antony away from Anfield this summer.
