Roberto Firmino ensured Liverpool emerged victorious at home to Tottenham in the north Londoners’ last trip to Anfield. The Brazilian beat Hugo Lloris in the 90th-minute to restore the lead on December 16, 2020 after Son Heung-Min equalised after Mohamed Salah’s hit.

Firmino and Kane can take Premier League bragging rights between Reds and Spurs
Firmino needs one more goal at home to Tottenham for the Liverpool ace to draw level as the top-scorer in the Premier League fixture at Anfield. Robbie Fowler currently boasts the best haul in the meeting with four. Harry Kane can also go joint-top, having also hit three.
Kane last scored away to the Reds in the opening minute of Spurs’ 2-1 defeat on October 27, 2019. He broke the deadlock before Jordan Henderson drew Jurgen Klopp’s side level early in the second-half. Salah hit the winning effort from the penalty spot on 75 minutes.
A 95th-minute penalty from Kane on February 4, 2018 returned the north Londoners’ last point on Merseyside. Salah had opened the scoring, before restoring the Reds’ advantage in the first minute of stoppage-time after Victor Wanyama’s equaliser in the 80th-minute.
Tottenham will likely need to take at least one point from their trip to Liverpool on May 7 with Conte chasing Champions League qualification. The Reds will also be determined to maintain their unbeaten Premier League record so far this season as they chase the title.

Klopp has overseen 14 wins and three draws across the Merseysiders’ 17 top-flight games at Anfield this term. They are the only club yet to lose at home, with a biggest win to date of 6-0 against Leeds. So, what are the biggest scores between Liverpool and Tottenham?

Rafael van der Vaart beat Pepe Reina to break the deadlock inside nine minutes when the Dutch maestro chested down Peter Crouch’s pass. He then crashed a dipping 20-yard shot into the back of the net. Luka Modric later punished Andy Carroll for a costly missed shot.

John Flanagan gave Tottenham a chance to double their margin over Dalglish’s side with a 56th-minute penalty. Referee Howard Webb felt the defender impeded Steven Pienaar in the box, and Modric made no mistake. Spurs would end the term in fifth, with the Reds in sixth.
Liverpool 1-2 Tottenham, August 1993
Tottenham’s win over Liverpool in 2011 ended an 18-year wait for only a second Premier League victory at Anfield. Their first came at the start of the second season in August 1993 as Osvaldo Ardiles oversaw a 2-1 result away to Graeme Souness’ Reds on matchday four.
Nigel Clough had put the home side ahead after 18 minutes as he slotted home from Steve McManaman’s assist. But a brace from Teddy Sheringham saw the visiting side leave with all three-points, netting a 30th-minute penalty before riffling his second after 42 minutes.
Spurs would only end the season in 15th place, however, while Liverpool ended up eighth. Sheringham also enjoyed 13 goals that term, but only played 19 games due to injury. He had struck 21 over 38 games during the inaugural Premier League campaign in 1992/93.
Liverpool 6-2 Tottenham, May 1993
Liverpool recorded their biggest win over Tottenham at Anfield in the first Premier League meeting between the clubs on Merseyside on May 7, 1993. Souness’ side took a 6-2 win at home to Doug Livermore’s men on the final day of the season as they finished in seventh.
The result ensured Liverpool finished above Sheffield Wednesday and Spurs, with all three on 59 points. Tottenham finished last of the clubs in eighth by virtue of having the worst goal difference. Liverpool finished on plus-seven, the Owls plus-four and Spurs minus-six.
Tottenham never led at Liverpool in the 6-2 loss, with Ian Rush scoring before John Barnes added a second. Sheringham pulled one back in the first minute of the second-half, before Steve Harkness, Mark Walters, Rush and Barnes hit around Steve Sedgley hitting for Spurs.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham, November 1997 and March 2014
Twice Liverpool have beaten Tottenham 4-0 at Anfield over the Premier League-era in 1997 and 2014. Roy Evans oversaw the Reds’ first four-goal triumph with McManaman, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Jamie Redknapp and Michael Owen getting in on the act without any reply.
Brendan Rodgers oversaw the second such instance Spurs have lost 4-0 on Merseyside to the Reds. Younes Kaboul broke the deadlock in the second minute when the defender hit an early own goal. Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson later added goals.

Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham, September 2006
Tottenham have only lost a Premier League game at Anfield by a three-goal margin once in Liverpool’s 3-0 win on September 23, 2006. Rafa Benitez stood at the helm as Martin Jol’s Spurs travelled to Merseyside, and saw his Reds win with three goals in the final half-hour.
Mark Gonzalez broke the north Londoners’ resolve when his deflected effort found a way past Paul Robinson. Dirk Kuyt soon added a second 10 minutes later when the Dutchman placed in a right-footed effort. John Arne Riise later thumped home from range at the end.
