Premier League giants Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur missed out on the chance to sign Randal Kolo Muani for free and now he’s valued at a minimum of £50 million by Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Sport BILD.

Has there been a better signing in the German Bundesliga this campaign? Ok, Matthias Ginter has been pretty outstanding at overachievers Freiburg. Ditto Mitchell Weiser at Werder Bremen.

But, if we are talking about immediate impact, and pound-for-pound value, then Frankfurt landing Kolo Muani on a free following the expiration of his contract at FC Nantes would take some beating in the ‘signing of the season’ stakes.

Per Kicker, only four players since the turn of the century have more assists than Kolo Muani’s eight in his first 11 Bundesliga games. Now on nine, the fleet-footed Frenchman is officially the most creative footballer in the division. A division which, lest we forget, also contains such luminaries as Joshua Kimmich, David Raum and Thomas Muller.

It’s telling that he was called up to replace the injured Christopher Nkunku in France’s 2022 World Cup squad. All the while, Anthony Martial, Wissam Ben Yedder and Moussa Diaby are still at home.

Liverpool and Tottenham held talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani

“Randal Kolo Muani brings attributes that we need for our game. He’s fast, robust and a very good finisher,” explains Markus Krosche, Frankfurt director. “He’s also tactically versatile and can play in several different systems, which will give us even more flexibility.”

Krosche insists the Europa League holders won’t sell the snake-hipped, cavorting Kolo Muani any time soon. Even if offers did arrive, BILD says that only bids in excess of £50 million will come under consideration.

Frankfurt reportedly hope that, one day soon, Kolo Muani can become a 100 million euro forward. He’s certainly heading in the right direction.

The 23-year-old has a long way to go before that happens, of course. But, given how quickly he has developed his game since joining Frankfurt, choosing the Bundesliga outfit even after talks with both Liverpool and Spurs (FR), don’t bet against Kolo Muani attracting bids close to nine figures in the coming years.

According to FootMercato, Spurs chief Fabio Paratici met with Kolo Muani’s entourage in 2021. He was still a relatively little-known forward plugging away in France at the time. Kolo Muani has come an awfully long way since those relegation-dodging days at Nantes.

And, relatively speaking, his footballing journey is still only just beginning.
