Nantes president Waldemir Kita regrets how the Randal Kolo Muani saga is turning out with Premier League giants Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur eyeing the highly-rated forward, speaking to Le Quotidien du Sport.
On Friday morning, Liverpool made a breakthrough in their pursuit of an exciting young forward with admirers from all over Europe.
It’s not Kolo Muani, however, but Porto’s Luis Diaz packing his bags and heading to Anfield.
Does that mean Liverpool’s interest in Kolo Muani is coming to an end? Maybe. But, then again, perhaps not. Even if Diaz does arrive – a medical should take place over the weekend – Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino could both be on their way.
There may still be room in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for another jet-heeled frontman capable of playing anywhere across in the final third.
What next for Randal Kolo Muani with Liverpool signing Luis Diaz?
Tottenham opened to sign Kolo Muani before Christmas (FootMercato).
And after being pipped to the post twice in the space of just a few days – Liverpool landing Diaz while Adama Traore closes in on a shock return to Barcelona – the former France U21 international can maybe expect to receive a phone call from Fabio Paratici at some point over the next 72 hours.
Kolo Muani, who’s scored eight Ligue 1 goals this season and has been compared to Kylian Mbappe due to his searing pace and this Parisian beginnings, confirmed recently that he will not sign a new contract at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
He will be a free-agent in July. Much to the frustration of a president never afraid to speak his mind.
“When you welcome a kid at the age of 15…. But his parents, his family, tell us ‘we don’t owe you anything’, it’s not very moral,” Kita sighs.

“The problem is that we don’t even know who to contact. First there was an agent, then two agents, then a lawyer, then the family. After a while, despite all my efforts, the talks broke down.
“His father, with whom I spoke on many occasions, does not even speak to me on the phone anymore.”
Southampton, Crystal Palace and Everton are all reportedly keen on Kolo Muani too.
Eintracht Frankfurt are the current favourites, however, with Kita confirming that the Bundesliga outfit have made ‘an offer’.
