Lisandro Martinez has given a powerful verdict on what he noticed from watching Manchester United play under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex is often spoken of as one of the top managers in football history, and his time at Old Trafford brought an incredible level of success.

The legendary former Manchester United manager led the Red Devils to all 13 of their Premier League titles before he called it time on his remarkable career.

Ferguson’s arrival marked the beginning of an era that saw United become the dominant force in English football, with his teams setting standards that others struggled to match.

The Scot led United to their famous treble win in the 1998-99 season and lifted the Champions League trophy again with the Red Devils in the 2007-08 campaign.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United have found it difficult to return to the top of English football.

The Red Devils haven’t won a Premier League title since the 2012-13 season and have been going through a challenging period of change ever since.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to see United regain their place at the top, especially over rivals like Liverpool and Manchester City, following Ineos’ arrival.

Lisandro Martinez spoke to TNT Sports about his fascination with how Man Utd played during Ferguson’s time in charge.

“This club, for me, is really, really special,” he told TNT Sports pundit Owen Hargreaves, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I watched all the games in the [Sir] Alex Ferguson era and wow, it was like history.”

Since Ferguson retired, United have picked up trophies here and there, but another league title has remained out of reach since 2013.

Martinez said he hopes to play a role in turning that around and believes Ferguson’s teams highlighted the importance of carving out your own legacy.

“And football is, for me, about that too: put your name there [in the history books],” he added.

“I hope soon that we are in the same moment because I want to achieve big things here.

“It’s really special and I hope soon that this club will go up again.”

The Red Devils are currently fourth in the Premier League and return to action on 23rd February when they visit Everton at Goodison Park.
