West Ham striker Jonathan Calleri has admitted talking to Carlos Tevez about struggles in East London.
West Ham United striker Jonathan Calleri has admitted to Sky Sports that he spoke to Carlos Tevez about his struggles in East London.
With West Ham looking for attacking reinforcements over the summer, they swooped to land Calleri on loan from Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado, having emerged as a real star in South America.
The Argentinian striker, 23, hit 23 goals in 59 games for Boca Juniors and 16 goals in 31 games for Sao Paulo before earning his move to Europe with West Ham.

So far though, Calleri has been something of a disappointment at the London Stadium, as he has scored just once for the club – and that came with a late strike against Middlesbrough last month.

There were some suggestions that Calleri could leave East London in January, but Spanish newspaper Marca reported that a deal to send him to Las Palmas had fallen through.
Carlos Tevez – West Ham
With the January transfer window now closed, Calleri will spend the rest of the season with West Ham with his loan deal expiring in the summer, and he has admitted speaking to a former West Ham ace about his situation.
Calleri’s compatriot Carlos Tevez enjoyed a superb spell with the club during the 2006-07 season, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances to become an Upton Park hero after struggling initially, helping them stay in the Premier League.
Now, Calleri has revealed to Sky Sports that he spoke to Tevez recently to discuss his own problems, but his chat with Tevez has helped him realise that he wants to fight for his place under Slaven Bilic, whilst admitting that he will take Tevez’s advice on board.

“I did speak to him a few months ago,” said Calleri. “When he arrived at West Ham, he was in a similar situation that I found myself in. It was hard for him and it was also hard for me. I am staying here, I want to battle, I have taken his advice on board and I want to be successful and follow in his footsteps,” he added.
