Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Mikel Arteta will give William Saliba a chance next season even if Ben White joins.
The Express have claimed that the 20-year-old, who was out on loan this season, will be given a shot in pre-season by his manager.
Rumours have been surfacing about Arsenal looking to dip into the transfer market to bulk up their defence, as Brighton defender White is a name that has been thrown about.
White is one of the upcoming stars in the Premier League and he is currently away with England at the Euros.
But it has to be questioned what the difference is between White and Saliba if Arteta is looking to have both of them at his disposal next season.
Given that Arteta didn’t give Saliba a shot at first-team football in North London during the recently concluded campaign, it does raise doubt amongst the supporters that the Frenchman will be part of their long-term plans despite the rumours.
At the age of 20, White is only three years older than Saliba, but he does have that experience of playing a full campaign of Premier League football.
Either way, whatever Arteta decides, it’s going to be scrutinised down to a tee next term and if it goes wrong then he won’t last too long.
There were many occasions this season when Arteta could have easily got the sack, but those in the boardroom stuck by him, even though many supporters were left frustrated.
