Tottenham Hotspur right-back Matt Doherty has raved about Liverpool-linked Barcelona and France international winger Ousmane Dembele on the club’s official website.

Dembele, linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer of 2022, is part of the France squad for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.

France will lock horns with Australia in their opening Qatar World Cup group game on Tuesday.

And Doherty believes that Dembele is the player to watch.

Liverpool were linked with the former Borussia Dortmund star in the summer of 2022.

Sport reported that Liverpool interested in signing Dembele on a free transfer and made contact in regard to a summer move.

The 25-year-old was out of contract at Barcelona at the time.

The France international winger eventually signed a new deal with the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners until 2024.

Dembele has made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals and given five assists in those matches.

The winger has also scored one goal and provided two assists in six UEFA Champions League games for Xavi’s side so far this campaign.

Doherty said when asked about his player to watch today: “Wow, tough call today! I’m going to go for a French player, and I think Ousmane Dembele will have a good tournament.

“He’s got back into form at Barcelona this season, so he could light up the World Cup. So, hopefully he starts today and I get that one right!”
