Premier League giants Liverpool are set to sign Calvin Ramsay and Aberdeen legend Willie Miller believes this is a ‘life-changing opportunity’ for Scotland’s Young Player of the Year, speaking to the Press and Journal.
Ramsay, during an outstanding breakthrough season at Pittodrie, has made no secret of his admiration for a man who, if everything goes to plan, he’ll be sharing a dressing room with sooner rather than later.
And the teenager’s devastating crossing ability is certainly reminiscent of one Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Ramsay has nine assists to his name during 2021/22. Quite the feat for an 18-year-old right-back who, like Liverpool’s number 66, has risen through the ranks to become one of the first names on his team sheet at his boyhood club.

“If Liverpool buy Calvin Ramsay for £4m, plus a possible additional £2m in add-ons, that would be a fair fee,” says Miller, who captained Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen to a famous win over Real Madrid in the 1983 European Cup Winners’ Cup.
“It would represent good business from Aberdeen and also secure a dream move for the talented teenager.”
According to the Daily Record, Liverpool are on the ‘verge’ of sealing a deal for one of Britain’s most highly-rated youngsters. Ramsay will be the second teenage right-back to swap Scotland for Merseyside since the turn of the year, following in the footsteps of Everton’s Nathan Patterson.
“Some people will compare Ramsay’s potential move to Liverpool with Nathan Patterson’s January transfer from Rangers to Everton,” Miller adds. “The fee for Patterson was £12m and could rise to £16m with add-ons.
“Like it or not there is a ceiling for Aberdeen players. It is a fact of life; if you are a Celtic or Rangers player like Patterson, there will be a higher fee received.
“It is a life-changing opportunity for (Ramsay) if he gets the chance to move to Liverpool.

“It won’t be easy to get into the Liverpool team, we all know that. But it would be a magnificent step for him. To go down to Anfield and rub shoulders with the quality of players they have would really be living the dream for Ramsay.”
Ramsay was named the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year last month. An award previously claimed by, amongst others Kieran Tierney, Craig Gordon and Stuart Armstrong.
