Liam Rosenior has not even been at Chelsea for a week yet, but he is already starting to get a sense of what some of his new players are about.

Strasbourg was not exactly a high-pressure job, so stepping into the Stamford Bridge environment is going to be quite the adjustment for Rosenior.

He will need to learn quickly, though. The demands at Chelsea are always sky-high, and that pressure has only grown as their success has faded in recent years.

Enzo Maresca picked up silverware with the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League in 2025, but his fallout with ownership ended things abruptly.

Still, he left behind a group that looks capable of competing for trophies again. It might just take the right leadership and a few tweaks here and there to get them back on track.

Moises Caicedo has become a key figure at Chelsea since joining the club. He was already part of the leadership group under Enzo Maresca and is expected to remain influential under Liam Rosenior.

Rosenior is under pressure early on, especially regarding his relationship with the midfielder.

Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has suggested that Rosenior needs to win over Caicedo quickly, or it could cost him his job.

Speaking before the match against Charlton, Rosenior praised Caicedo, putting him a level above other elite midfielders.

“Moises Caicedo is the best midfield player in world football in my opinion,” he said.

Moises Caicedo outshines Rodri and Declan Rice

Despite it only being January, Peter Crouch has already included Caicedo in his Premier League Team of the Season so far, and it is hard to argue against it.

Caicedo’s numbers speak for themselves. In several important metrics, he is ahead of both Rodri and Declan Rice this season.

While some might point out that Rodri has struggled with fitness issues this season, Caicedo is still outperforming Declan Rice – a key figure in Arsenal’s title push and widely regarded as one of the league’s top players.

Chelsea may not have been at their best this season, but Caicedo continues to put in the work, and it has not gone unnoticed.
