Chelsea are expecting a quiet transfer window, but Trevoh Chalobah’s latest move has added more speculation involving Antonio Rudiger.

This season, Chalobah has quietly become a key player for the Blues. Even though he does not have the higgest profile, he has managed to carve out an important role under Enzo Maresca.

It has been a big learning curve for the defender, but he has emerged as one of the top centre-backs in the league and looks set to keep improving under Liam Rosenior.

One former Chelsea teammate who has influenced Chalobah is Thiago Silva. The defender credits the Brazilian centre-back for helping him develop his reading of the game and anticipation.

But there is another former teammate that Chalobah still keeps in touch: Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger played a key role during one of Chelsea’s most successful periods, helping the club to multiple titles.

His time at Stamford Bridge brought him a Champions League, Europa League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and an FA Cup winner’s medal. That connection to the club clearly hasn’t faded for those who played alongside him.

Speaking to Chelsea, Chalobah reflected on what it meant to share that moment with players like Rudiger.

“Because I had been training with the first-team during the second half of the season, it wasn’t so daunting – I felt ready.

“It was a great moment. It was my first senior medal and trophy, and it was such a great experience to share it with the likes of Toni Rudiger and Eden Hazard.

“Rudiger was great with me that season in particular. He helped me a lot, and I still talk to him to this day. He’s been an important part of my journey. The likes of Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud all helped as well,” he said.

Ray Parlour urges Antonio Rudiger to consider Chelsea return

Ray Parlour was the latest to weigh in on the possibility of Rudiger making a return to Stamford Bridge. Speaking on talkSPORT, he did not hesitate to back the idea.

“Take him, he knows Chelsea, I’d take him straight back. You’d definitely take Rudiger back, every Chelsea fan would have him back.”

Now 32, Rudiger still has time left at the top level, but whether he would be interested in another spell with the Blues is unclear.

Although his ongoing conversations with Chalobah do suggest there is at least some openness to reconnecting with old teammates.

The financial side cannot be ignored either – his current wages at Real Madrid are substantial and could pose a challenge for any potential move.
