Alan McInally told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that Daniel Levy’s ‘biggest mistake’ was sacking Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham boss in 2019.

The former Scotland international also claimed that Tottenham fans will also wish they ‘hadn’t complained’ about Pochettino before his departure.

At the time, Spurs, who had just lost the Champions League final, were sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table heading into Christmas and leaking goals for fun.

McInally thinks given what has happened since that day, Levy will now be questioning why he was so quick to make such a call.

“18 months ago they got rid of Pochettino,” said McInally. “I think that was Levy’s biggest mistake. Genuinely.

“I didn’t think he had to do that. I think there’s a lot of fans wishing that hadn’t been the case and they hadn’t really complained about it.

“I think it was Levy’s appointment to bring in Gareth (Bale) and lovely for him to have the opportunity to come back to Spurs when he was quite sensational before he went. And pulled the carpets up at Real Madrid.

“It looks as though Zidane isn’t going to be there, so Gareth’s going to go back to Real Madrid and you never know might get back in the team. If you lose Son and Kane in the summer then Spurs will be miles off it.”

Well, it seems as though Levy is potentially looking to bring back Pochettino to North London, with the attack-minded coach missing out on winning the Ligue 1 title with PSG over the weekend.

The Independent claim that even if Pochettino returns to Spurs then it won’t tempt their star man, Harry Kane, to stay at the club.

As much as it was a shock for Spurs to appoint Jose Mourinho in the first place, it would be an even bigger shock if Pochettino returned, especially given that he has just stepped foot into his job in Paris.
