Arsenal fans have reacted to Mikel Arteta’s claim that there is ‘no point’ in him worrying about bringing in new players into the attacking third, as he told Football London.
After finishing outside of Europe for the first time in 25 years last season, it was pretty obvious that this Arsenal team needed a makeover.
But do the Arsenal fans feel that they have had the changes to the squad this summer that they expected? It seems as though the answer to that is no, at this moment in time.
Ben White is still the only major signing Arsenal have made, and whilst Arteta doesn’t worry about their lack of transfer business in the forward areas, the fans are expressing their anger.
Arteta claimed that the Gunners have to ‘maximise’ what they currently have and his energy is all on making the players ‘better’.
But the Arsenal faithful seemingly don’t trust Arteta to do that because they feel this past season’s results prove that, hence why they need new additions instead.
Many supporters would like to see him backed further in the market and it seems the reaction won’t be too pleasant if more fresh faces aren’t brought into the attacking areas this summer.
There is all this talk about James Maddison, but it seems as though the Leicester City playmaker will be ‘too expensive’ for the Gunners.
Then there is the possibility of Martin Odegaard returning, but would his signing be enough to please the supporters?
Either way, Arteta’s comments haven’t gone down well.
