Leonardo Bonucci has posted an intriguing three-word message on Instagram after Juventus suffered defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League – amid reports that Tottenham are interested in signing the Italy veteran.
Bonucci, 35, is a Juventus icon and is just 10 games away from clocking up an enormous 500 appearances for the Old Lady in all competitions. But it has not been a good time to be associated with Juventus, after a woeful 22-23 season.
The club’s form in Serie A has improved of late, despite winning just two of their opening seven league games. They have gone on to win four of their next five. But, they sit in seventh in Serie A. They are out of the Champions League.
In their Champions League group, Juventus managed just three points from a possible 18. Level on points with Maccabi Haifa. Max Allegri is under pressure and has made some big decisions, even dropping captain Bonucci.
Normally playing every minute, the 118-time Italy star has been used as a substitute in four of his 14 games. Italian website CalcioMercato.TV claim that he “will leave” Juventus, and Tottenham are keen. Antonio Conte wants a reunion.
On Wednesday night, Bonucci scored against PSG in a 2-1 defeat – their final Champions League match. He posted “Until the end”, which might be something to do with his future at Juventus. Tottenham will certainly be keeping tabs.
Bonucci message on Instagram amid Tottenham reports
While the Fino Alla Fine tag is a phrase often coined by Juventus and the club’s players, it is fitting to Bonucci’s time at the Old Lady. In what is his second spell, it looks more than likely that the club are in transition – and he will depart.
Allegri has been given a vote of confidence at least until next summer, to bring in a new era at Juventus. Players like Bonucci, at 35, will surely be replaced. Juventus need a big change in the next couple of transfer windows.
So, while his post is quite normal – it is intriguing given the reports surrounding his future at the moment. Would he go to Tottenham? The chances are that the Premier League is a bit quick for him, and he would only be cover for Eric Dier.
