Brendan Rodgers has been tipped to bring Lee Congerton with him to Premier League outfit Leicester City with his future at Celtic uncertain.

Lee Congerton appears to be one step closer to sealing his departure from Celtic.

The club’s head of recruitment (above, second from left) has been heavily tipped to follow Brendan Rodgers out the door before the summer with Sky Sports reporting that he is on the radar of two MLS clubs as well as Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Though a reunion with Rodgers, who he worked with at Chelsea and Celtic, also appears to be on the cards.

Rodgers was named Leicester City’s new manager in late February and The Sun (5 March, page 51) claimed that Congerton could join the Northern Irishman at the King Power Stadium.

Now, the door appears to have opened. On Thursday, Leicester confirmed on their official website that Eduardo Macia (below, left), the club’s current recruitment chief, will bid farewell before the end of the week.

Leicester, then, will be on the lookout for a new head of recruitment and it would be little surprise if Congerton made the trip from Glasgow to Leicestershire.

Rodgers may be a big fan but Congerton has often been the subject of plenty of criticism for some truly baffling transfer deals. He brought the likes of Charly Musonda and Marvin Compper to Celtic while Sunderland fans were stunned when The Hoops offered him the job two years ago.
