Lee Congerton will hope to leave Celtic one day held in better esteem than he is by Sunderland fans.
Celtic have announced the appointment of Lee Congerton as their new head of recruitment, SkySports report.
Congerton recently worked as sporting director at Sunderland, and will link back up with Brendan Rodgers north of the border, after the pair once worked together at Chelsea.
His time at Sunderland was tough, with the Black Cats going through a succession of managers including Gus Poyet and Paolo di Canio during his time at the club.
This meant a rapid turnover of players, and many of Congerton's signings not getting time to settle or prove themselves, which in turn reflected badly on him, with the side battling relegation year after year.
At Celtic he is in a very different scenario, tasked with finding players for a side which is already very settled, and looking to prove themselves in the Champions League.
Not many Sunderland players are likely therefore to be getting a call from Congerton, who needs to ensure Celtic continue to progress and not allow rivals Rangers to start threatening their supremacy.
Here is a look at how Sunderland fans reacted on Twitter to Congerton's Celtic appointment...
I sincerely hope Lee Congerton peaked at Sunderland and all his signings for Celtic are just even worse Will Buckleys and Adam Matthewses— David. (@DavidD_73) March 15, 2017
Much as I'm more a Gers man I wouldn't wish Lee Congerton on anyone so good luck with that Celtic— BRI-SAFC (@safcking) March 15, 2017
