Leeds United have been strongly linked with a move for Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott.

Marriott has become one of the most in demand strikers in the Football League, after his wonderful scoring form this season.
The rapid striker only joined Posh six months ago, but he has already netted 23 goals across all competitions.

Marriott scored twice against Aston Villa in the FA Cup recently, to prove that he could cope against Championship opposition.
And now a whole host of clubs are chasing Marriott, with Leeds believed to be one of the most interest parties.
Leeds had only been competing with Championship clubs, which would surely have put them near the front of the queue for the front-man’s signature.
However, Fry has now confirmed that Premier League sides are starting to enquire about Marriott.
“We’ve had bids for Jack from three Championship clubs which we’ve rejected,” Fry said.
“We have now seen a couple of Premier League clubs enquire about him. We have turned down a bid of £4 million because we believe he is better than Conor Washington, [Britt] Assombalonga and [Dwight] Gayle and he’s younger as well.”

If a Premier League club does step in for Marriott, then Leeds could face an uphill task in convincing Marriott to move to Elland Road.
Leeds may be pushing for promotion from the Championship this term, but when the bright lights of the Premier League come calling, they can prove hard to turn down.
And Leeds would be wise to work on a back-up plan, if they have made Marriott their top target.
