The pacey attacker joined Peterborough last summer from Luton Town after scoring 28 goals in 54 starts for the Hatters and he has has continued that fine form into playing in League One for Posh.

Marriott, who started his career at Ipswich, is now widely regarded as one of the best strikers outside the top two leagues following his prolific run of form in the last 18 months and unsurprisingly his goalscoring heroics have brought him to the attention of clubs higher up the football pyramd.

Peterborough are aware of the growing interest in Marriott and are understood to have rejected a bid of £3.5million from one of his suitors and two other bids of £4million from two other Championship sides.

Peterborough are keen to keep hold of their star striker and it would take a fee in the region of £7million plus to persuade them to let him during this month’s transfer window.
