Leeds United could target Viktor Gyokeres before the transfer deadline with the Coventry City hitman seemingly in demand.

The Whites needed a striker anyway given Patrick Bamford’s notable injury problems.

Add in that Rodrigo has now picked up a shoulder problem in Tuesday’s draw with Everton and the need for a striker has just grown.

Leeds missed out on the likes of Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo earlier this summer, so the Whites need to find somebody else to sign before the deadline.

Leeds United could target Viktor Gyokeres

One name that hasn’t really been mentioned before is that of Coventry City attacker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede has impressed in the Championship but we haven’t heard Leeds linked with him this summer.

Now though, transfer reporter Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds have ‘half an eye’ on trying to sign Gyokeres before the deadline.

Jones seemingly believes that Leeds are keen on signing Gyokeres, and may even prefer him over Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz.

Gyokeres, 24, smashed 18 goals in 47 games across all competitions for Coventry last season.

Gyokeres also has two goals in seven caps for Sweden and looks set for a big future both at international and domestic levels.

The 6ft 2in striker has been in the Premier League before having joined Brighton and Hove Albion from Brommapojkarna in 2018.

Gyokeres never made his league debut for the Seagulls though and has dropped down to the Championship to try and show his quality.

That has certainly happened and it’s no surprise that Gyokeres is now attracting major interest.

A move to the Premier League has been rumoured this summer with Everton understood to be interested in signing Gyokeres.

Leeds may now be joining the race though, leaving Coventry to worry about the future of the striker branded ‘unbelievable’ by boss Mark Robins.
