According to 90Min, Leeds United’s talks with Wigan Athletic are ‘progressing well’ as they pursue a deal for youngster Sean McGurk.
The Whites secured a big new signing on Tuesday, confirming a deal for Barcelona left back Junior Firpo as he comes in to replace Ezgjan Alioski.
Fans may hope for more first-team additions soon, but Victor Orta has always shown a focus on the Under-23’s and signing prospects for the future.
Last summer, Leeds brought in the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, casting an eye towards the years to come and not just the senior side.
Leeds raided Wigan to sign Gelhardt, and it now looks like they’re planning to do it again by finally landing McGurk this summer.
Attacking midfielder McGurk has been on Leeds’ radar for some time now, as they actually wanted him to join alongside Gelhardt, but no deal was done.

The 18-year-old, formerly of Liverpool, hasn’t yet made his Wigan first-team debut but Leeds already appear to have seen enough to bring him to Elland Road.
With talks progressing well, it looks like McGurk will become a Leeds player soon, giving Marcelo Bielsa and co yet another talented prospect for the future as Leeds attempt to cement themselves as a Premier League club for years to come.
