According to The Sun, Leeds United are now targeting a January deal for Wigan Athletic talent Sean McGurk – having already signed Joe Gelhardt.
The Whites took advantage of Wigan’s financial difficulties to sign Gelhardt over the summer, landing one of the Football League’s top young talents.
They also tried to sign teammate McGurk, but Wigan’s administrators rejected Leeds’ offer, and they didn’t manage to get a deal done over the summer window.

Now though, it’s suggested that Leeds chiefs are planning to make a new move for McGurk in January, in an attempt to reunite him with Gelhardt.
Having lost so many players over the summer, Wigan won’t want to lose more future stars too, having already seen Gelhardt, Jensen Weir and Alfie Devine all move on.

It may be difficult to fend Leeds off though, as they can offer great development opportunities and the chance to join forces with Gelhardt once again.
McGurk, 17, predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder or wide man, and has impressed in the FA Youth Cup having bagged two goals in four games earlier this year.
Other clubs have been linked with McGurk since Wigan went into financial meltdown, but Leeds are now priming themselves for a January move in order to finally get him snapped up.
