The Romanian has recently rediscovered his form for the 2.Bundesliga side.

What was ran as an opinion piece by HITC back in December soon became reality, with Romanian playmaker Alexandru Maxim’s agent confirming to Stuttgarter Nachrichten that the Yorkshire club were keen on the player. The Yorkshire Evening Post then reported that Garry Monk had a look at the player in the summer.
It came as no surprise, considering Monk had been linked with signing him for Swansea and assistant boss Pep Clotet worked with him at Espanyol.
This week the Romanian has been speaking to the press in Germany about his situation at VfB Stuttgart. He told Stuttgarter Nachrichten:
“Of course it was not easy for me. This is not for any footballer. But I have always seen myself as a part of the team and never claimed a special status.
“Sure, I want to play. Always and always from the beginning. But if the coach has a different view, I have to accept that. He’s the boss. And we are professionals, earn a lot of money and have a privileged life. So I will not complain.”

It certainly seems as though Maxim is back in favour at Stuttgart. He has recently been playing regularly again and scored a wondergoal against Arminia Bielefeld earlier this month.
His form has helped Stuttgart’s results improve and they are currently closing in on promotion to the Bundesliga.
If that does happen then Leeds United’s interest in Maxim may have to forever stay as just that. Unless they themselves can pull their way into Premier League for next season.
