The Leeds United youngster is tied to the club until at least 2019.

As reported by HITC Sport on Sunday, German club RB Leipzig are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira.

But before fans of the Whites get too worried, on this occasion it seems the Leeds hierarchy have shown some foresight and ensured a player is tied down to a long-term deal before they garner the attention of the great and the good of the game.

Vieira signed a three-year contract at Elland Road after only seven first-team appearances under his belt, and when you consider Leeds rarely offer such deals to their next generation, with one- or two-year contracts the norm under owner Massimo Cellino, the decision is to be applauded.

Leeds knew exactly how good Vieira was and they acted accordingly, even if they would not have believed just how far he has come in the proceeding months.

The 18-year-old is now a key player for Leeds under Garry Monk and if they are to return to the top flight it will have much to do with the talented teenager.

With Vieira tied to Leeds until the summer of 2019 they can afford to ignore any links from interested parties for now. However they will understand the importance of returning to the top flight as soon as possible, to ensure they can keep hold of him well into the next decade.
