Leeds United talent Crysencio Summerville has again shown his quality by winning not one but two penalties against Liverpool Under-23’s.
The Whites took on Liverpool at Elland Road on Monday night with notable names like Charlie Cresswell, Jack Jenkins and Kristoffer Klaesson in action.
Summerville was the main attraction though, and he had a hand in all three Leeds goals against the Reds.
Summerville created the opening goal, driving at Liverpool left back Owen Beck before cutting inside and shooting.
The Dutchman’s shot was saved by Marcelo Pitaluga, but Jenkins was on hand to convert the rebound.
Summerville then won a penalty, stepping up to score himself by sending Pitaluga the wrong way.
There was still time for Summerville to win another penalty, with Max Dean scoring this time to seal a 3-0 victory for Leeds.
This was simply sensational from Summerville, whose future at Leeds has been in doubt in recent times.
Rangers wanted to sign Summerville in January, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst keen on an Ibrox reunion having previously worked together at Feyenoord.
Hamburg then joined the race, chasing a permanent deal in January with Summerville struggling to break into the Leeds first team.
Marcelo Bielsa has now confirmed that Summerville wanted to move on in January, and he was happy for the winger to leave Leeds simply because he wanted to go.
Summerville has given Bielsa a timely reminder of his quality, but that doesn’t make the path to first-team action any easier.
Leeds already have wingers like Raphinha, Daniel James and Jack Harrison in their ranks, with Summerville on the outside looking in.
The 20-year-old clearly has huge potential, and Under-23 football soon won’t be good enough; the likes of Hamburg and Rangers will likely come calling for Summerville again, with Monday’s display a show of his quality.
