Leeds United want Rabbi Matondo and have joined Celtic and Rangers in the hunt for the Schalke winger this summer.

It’s been a busy start to the window for Leeds, who have already landed Red Bull Salzburg duo Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca is set to follow this week and there could yet be more important additions for the Whites.

Raphinha’s future remains a major question mark and youngster Crysencio Summerville may want a loan move away.

That means Leeds will need to have potential winger additions in mind and one of them is now emerging.

Leeds United want Rabbi Matondo

German newspaper Bild report that Leeds have joined the race to sign Schalke winger Matondo.

Matondo was on loan at Cercle Brugge last season, recording 10 goals and two assists in 27 appearances for the Belgian side.

Cercle have refused to pay up for Matondo permanently, meaning Schalke are putting him back on the market for around €4million (£3.5million).

That has sparked real interest with Leeds joining Premier League rivals Brenford and Nottingham Forest in the race for Matondo.

Lens, Brest and Troyes in France are also interested in Matondo with Schalke seeking a deal to raise funds.

This comes just a week after Wales Online reported that Celtic and Rangers had both opened talks to bring Matondo to Glasgow.

Rangers are seeking another attacking threat this summer and Welsh international Matondo – hailed as ‘incredibly fast’ by Pep Guardiola – could fit the bill.

Matondo could likely be seen as a starter at Ibrox but more likely as competition for places at Leeds or Celtic, leaving the 21-year-old with plenty to think about.

Matondo was expected to become a star but it just hasn’t happened and it now seems that Leeds, Celtic and Rangers all fancy trying to get him back on track.
