Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United have now joined Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the race for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to Fanatik.

Fanatik have reported that Leeds have already made contact with Cakir’s agents and plan to make a bid for the goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Trabzonspor reportedly value the 25-year-old Turkey international goalkeeper at €20 million (£17 million).

It was only last week that Fotomaç claimed that Newcastle are keen on Cakir and are planning to make a bid of their own to Trabzonspor once the season ends.

Leeds United or Newcastle United for Ugurcan Cakir?

In our opinion, Newcastle would be more appealing than Leeds for Cakir.

We know that Newcastle have the wealthiest owners in club football.

So PIF would have no problem in paying the €20 million (£17 million) transfer fee needed for the 25-year-old.

And Newcastle could easily satisfy Cakir’s wage demands.

Illan Meslier is the number one goalkeeper at Leeds and is playing well, so dislodging him from his spot would not be easy for Cakir.

Yes, Martin Dubravka is the number one goalkeeper at Newcastle, but there are question marks over the future of the Slovakia international, who is also 33.
