The teenager has been a revelation in the heart of the Leeds midfield this season.

Leeds United talent Ronaldo Vieira has been commenting on his rise to the Elland Road first-team in an interview with The Sun this week.

The teenager has become a regular this season under the management of Garry Monk. His emergence saw recognised midfielders such as Toumani Diagouraga and Luke Murphy discarded from the first-team and eventually forced out of Leeds.

Monk has certainly shown an incredible amount of faith in the player and Vieira is clearly happy with the management at Thorp Arch. He told The Sun:

“It’s good to know the manager is not scared of playing young players if he thinks we are capable.

“He has put a lot of confidence into us and we want to repay him.”

The midfielder enforcer has an incredible story, as well as name, having moved over to the UK when he was 13-years-old with his twin brother, Romario, and mother.

Born in the African nation of Guinea-Bissau he spent much of his life in Portugal and could play for either national team in his life. He could also represent England. Whilst he did not rule out that possibility to The Sun, he made it clear Portugal would always be his first choice:

“My choice will always be Portugal.

“If they don’t come, I’m eligible to play for England.”

Vieira has certainly been showing the quality of a player who could play at an international level at some point in his career.

England fans would do well to wish for him to become one of their own.
