Leeds United plan to sit down with Adam Forshaw to begin discussions over a new contract for the midfielder with his current deal due to expire in June, according to the Mirror.
The Whites want to open talks with the 30-year-old to stop him leaving Elland Road for free this summer. He has regained a key role in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans over recent months after enjoying his long-awaited return from injury.
Forshaw missed two-years of action after suffering a serious hip injury in September 2019. The issue required multiple operations, and kept the Liverpool-born star out of Leeds’ first campaign back in the Premier League.

Bielsa afforded Forshaw his first league outing in 25-months as Leeds lost at Southampton in October. He has since started nine of their next 11 fixtures and also played 805-minutes.
The £20k-a-week ace has stunned Bielsa with what Forshaw has produced in a short space of time following his return. The Argentine considers it uncommon how quickly Forshaw was able to rediscover the level of form he displayed prior to a lengthy spell out injured.
Forshaw contract will not impact Leeds’ January transfer plans
Leeds now want to start discussions in a bid to lock Forshaw down with a new contract. The midfielder signed his current deal upon joining from Middlesbrough for £4.5m in 2018.

Forshaw agreeing to new terms will also not influence the Whites’ bid to sign a new central midfielder in January. Bielsa wants to keep him, but hopes to sign at least one new option.
Kalvin Phillips will remain out of action until March after his hamstring surgery. The issue allowed Forshaw to step up, and produce what Tony Dorigo considers ‘remarkable’ form.
