Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has said that he had a brutally honest conversation with Rodrigo recently, as quoted in The Mirror.
Marsch has praised Rodrigo, who can play as an attacking midfielder, winger or striker.
The new Leeds head coach has said that he had a good talk with the 31-year-old, adding that the Spain international took his points on board.
Jesse Marsch on Leeds United’s Rodrigo
Marsch said about Rodrigo: “Yeah, I had a very good conversation with the entire group and then with the leadership council, and Rodrigo is a part of the leadership council.
“I then had another individual conversation with Rodrigo afterwards and I told him how important he is and that he has to be a big part of the solution of where we need to go. He’s an incredible young man, he’s an honest man, he’s willing to have hard conversations and open conversations.
“I know he wants to help and I’m just trying to instil belief in him, instil an idea of how he fits in and how off the field and on the field he can be a massive presence for the entire team.
“I think he took our conversation really well, as did I. I think he applied himself really, really well against Norwich, really, really well.”

Important player
In our view, Rodrigo is an important player for Leeds and will have to play a big role in the team’s quest to escape the dreaded drop from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The Spaniard has not always been at his best for Leeds, but there have been positive signs of late.
The former Valencia star scored for Leeds in their 2-1 win against Norwich City at Elland Road in the Premier League this past weekend.
Rodrigo has made 19 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leeds so far this season.
The attacker has scored four goals and given one assist in those games.
During the 2020-21 campaign, the attacker made 14 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the league.
Rodrigo scored seven goals and gave two assists in those matches.
