Leeds United were keen on signing Jens Cajuste last summer, but have now officially missed their chance to sign the midfielder.

The Whites were keen on midfield reinforcements over the summer but weren’t able to bolster Marcelo Bielsa’s engine room.

You would have to say that this is still an area of concern for Leeds, and a midfielder should still be wanted this month.

If Leeds had any plans of going back in for Cajuste, then they have missed their chance.

Tipsbladet reported back in August that Leeds offered more than £11million to sign Cajuste from Midtjylland, but no deal was done.

Having boasted dribbling stats similar to Lionel Messi in the Champions League last season, Swedish talent Cajuste became a wanted man.

At just 22, Cajuste appears to have a huge future ahead of him – and that future will now be with Reims.

The French side have now confirmed the signing of Cajuste, securing him on a contract until 2026.

Reims give major minutes to young players, and Cajuste may now have the chance to feature prominently in France.

This means Cajuste will now be off Leeds’ list of potential signings for this month, though he could of course be targeted again in the future.

Cajuste will likely cost even more in the future, and we will soon see if Leeds have missed out on a top talent.
