Toni Kroos endured a tough evening against Kalvin Phillips last night, and is now allegedly planning to announce his retirement from international football.

England beat Germany 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening, sending Germany packing from Euro 2020 whilst advancing to the quarter-finals.

Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane gave England the win, with the Three Lions setting up a quarter-final clash against Ukraine.

Kroos set for international retirement

With Germany now out of Euro 2020, Bild report that midfielder Toni Kroos is now set to retire from international football.

Kroos is now 31 and has racked up 106 caps for Germany, but now looks set to focus on his club career with Real Madrid.

He won’t have wanted to go out with a defeat, especially against England, but that seems to be Kroos’s fate.

Leeds fans have their say

Kroos was going up against Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips in yesterday’s midfield battle, with Phillips coming out on top.

Kroos may have had plans to retire when this tournament was over anyway, but Leeds fans have been taking to Twitter to suggest that Phillips has retired Kroos.

Some praised Phillips for doing such a great job on Kroos that he has now decided to retire, branding the news ‘beautiful’ after a superb Phillips display.
