England are through to the quarter-finals after beating Germany 2-0 at Wembley – and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips played a key role again.
The Three Lions were the better side and took advantage with goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane both finding the net.
England have now set up a quarter-final clash with either Sweden or Ukraine in Rome on Saturday night.
Phillips shines again for England
You could almost pick out any player from England’s display tonight and suggest they were the key man, and Phillips was one of them.
It may not show up on the stat sheet, but Phillips played an important role shutting across the field and recycling possession.
Was he a little lucky to escape a VAR check for a challenge on Toni Kroos? Perhaps, but he was tireless in midfield alongside Declan Rice.
Phillips managed to win four aerial duels in combative performance, whilst having the fifth-most touches of any England player.

Phillips impresses against Kroos
Some had wondered whether Phillips was cut out to face the world’s best, but the Leeds man certainly proved his worth tonight.
He had to go up against Toni Kroos and Leon Goretzka, two of Europe’s top midfielders, and he didn’t look out of place at all.
With 11 ball recoveries, Phillips was outstanding once again for England, and Kroos will absolutely know he’s been in a game this evening.
