Leeds United have a real talent on their hands in Crysencio Summerville – a player who had real interest from Rangers during the January window.

Summerville joined Leeds in 2020 but has yet to become a regular first-team player.

That’s not a huge surprise given that Leeds already have wingers like Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Daniel James at the club.

Summerville is therefore stuck in the Under-23’s and has been heavily linked with leaving Elland Road.

The Daily Mail reported in January that Rangers were keen to sign Summerville to bolster their options out wide.

Having worked with Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Feyenoord, a move to Ibrox would have made some sense.

In the end, Rangers ended up signing Manchester United’s Amad Diallo instead – a move which hasn’t quite had the desired impact.

That has left Summerville to stay at Leeds, and he continues to shine in Under-23 football.

Leeds took on Crystal Palace on Monday night and pick up a 4-0 victory in an absolutely rampant performance.

Summerville stole the show with a fine hat-trick, once again showing that he is just too good for Under-23 football at this stage in his development.

Maybe Rangers will come back in for Summerville this summer – they will surely have been impressed with his Under-23 performances.

Jesse Marsch may yet be impressed though, with Summerville earning huge praise off the back of his three-goal display against Palace.

Leeds Under-23’ coach Andrew Taylor has now told the club’s official website that he thinks Summerville is ‘sensational’ going forward.

Yet what really pleases Taylor is the work he puts in off the ball too, and he predicts that Summerville will get a first-team chance very soon after working with Marsch.

“For me, Cry is a pleasure to work with,” said Taylor. “He works hard defensively and then his ability going forward is sensational. He just needs to keep doing that, keep performing. He will get his opportunities in our first team I’m sure. As you’ve seen tonight, he’s such a danger, he’s such a threat, an outlet for us, but he doesn’t stop there – he gets back, he gets into position.”

“Obviously they’ve worked a lot with Jesse and the first team lot, he’s took on board a lot of the key principles that they’re trying to do,” he added.
