Leeds United want Cody Gakpo and are understood to have agreed personal terms with the PSV Eindhoven winger ahead of a January move.
The Whites were in the market for another attacker on deadline day as Daniel James headed out on loan to join Fulham.
Bamba Dieng was one target but a move away from Marseille become very dramatic as he wanted to join Nice instead, only for both moves to collapse.
Leeds signed a talented youngster in Wilfried Gnonto but the door is still open for a major addition when the January transfer window opens.

Leeds United want Cody Gakpo
The main name will of course be Cody Gakpo.
The PSV Eindhoven winger was a top target for Leeds before the transfer deadline but a deal just couldn’t be done.
Victor Orta even jetted off to the Netherlands with the plan of bringing Gakpo back with him, only for PSV to stand firm and keep their star winger.
Andrea Radrizzani then tweeted that Leeds would ‘continue to work’ on signing Gakpo, already casting an eye towards a potential January deal.
The Mirror now claim that Leeds are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Gakpo during the January window.
They suggest that Leeds have already agreed personal terms with Gakpo and are now in talks with PSV to thrash out a deal.
It’s added that Arsenal have been tracking Gakpo for a year but Leeds are now pushing ahead with plans to bring the winger to Elland Road.
Leeds seemingly want all aspects of this deal sorted out before the World Cup, seemingly aware that Gakpo could thrive in Qatar and earn even more interest.
This will now come down to agreeing a fee with PSV, who will be commanding huge money for their prized asset.
Gakpo, 23, has racked up a frankly ridiculous 12 goals in 15 games across all competitions this season whilst even adding 10 assists.
Gakpo can play on either flank, up front or now as a number 10 and his versatility could provide a great attacking threat for Leeds.
This all sounds great for Leeds but until terms are struck with PSV, the threat of being hijacked will loom large.
