Speaking to a pre-match press conference, Thomas Christiansen has rubbished the theory that Leeds United’s dismal form is borne out of tiredness.

Defeat at Bristol City on Saturday would make it four defeats on the spin for a Leeds side who sat top of the Championship back in September.

The 1-0 reverse at home to Reading last weekend was particularly disappointing as Christiansen’s side posted one of their most uninspired performances of the season.

Liam Cooper was speaking to the media before Christiansen today and the United centre-back suggested that ‘tiredness’ was a factor behind the club’s form.

Those comments saw the Leeds captain criticised on Twitter, based on the fact that the Whites are only a quarter of the way through their season, and Christiansen poured cold water on the suggestion that exhaustion is an issue.

“I believe that players always try to find excuses. But that is not the reality,” he told a press conference, as reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post.

It’s difficult to believe that Leeds could be tired this early in the campaign – especially after a two-week international break – and an up-and-at-them performance at Ashton Gate is very much needed.
