Tyler Adams is highly sought-after among Premier League clubs after Leeds United’s relegation but the Liverpool and West Ham United transfer target could pull a U-turn.
That is according to Ben Jacobs, who has shared an update on Adams’ future at Leeds with uncertainty surrounding him. The 24-year-old only moved to Elland Road last summer. But the Whites are now having to fight to tempt the American to stay as a Championship team.
Any potential move away from Elland Road for the USA anchor has been slow to emerge as he is recovering from an injury. Adams finished the 2022/23 Premier League season on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in March. He missed each of the final 12 games.

Liverpool and West Ham are interested in Tyler Adams’ transfer
Adams’ injury ensured he could not help Leeds as they fought to avoid relegation. The 36-cap international had held an instrumental presence in West Yorkshire following his £20m transfer from RB Leipzig last July. He started all 24 of the top-flight games available to him.
Now, though, the American could be exit-bound as TEAMtalk reported in June that Adams told Leeds he wants to leave. The midfielder assured the Whites that he wants to remain a Premier League player in 2023/24. He also has a number of possible suitors in the division.
Manchester United have observed Adams’ situation from afar but Liverpool have checked out his availability for a transfer from Leeds. He is also on Newcastle United’s radar ahead of the Toon returning to the Champions League. But neither team has yet submitted a bid.
The Daily Mail also reported earlier in July that West Ham have begun to actively target a transfer from Leeds for Adams. It noted that the Irons made an approach to discuss what conditions the Whites would demand to release the midfielder from his contract to 2027.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Tyler Adams’ future at Leeds?
Adams agreed to a £55k-a-week deal to reunite with Jesse Marsch at Elland Road in 2022. The midfielder’s performances under his compatriot at Leeds and professionalism for the USA also saw Gary Lineker call Adams an ‘exceptionally bright’ young player in November.
Leeds would love to now retain Adams against interest from Liverpool, West Ham et al in his transfer. And Jacobs has offered the Whites a potential boost as the journalist reports that Adams is ‘definitely’ still open to the Leeds project and staying there in the Championship.
The challenge of helping Leeds secure an immediate return to the Premier League appeals to Adams. Marcelo Bielsa guided the Whites to promotion as the Championship champions in 2019/20. The West Yorkshire outfit took 93 points from 46 fixtures after sealing 28 wins.
