Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri does not miss Weston McKennie since sanctioning his loan transfer to Leeds United. The Whites hold an option to buy the American this summer.

That is according to TuttoMercatoWEB, which reports McKennie is the sole player Juventus axed in January whom Allegri does not miss. The Serie A side spent the winter sales striving to trim the Italian’s squad. Leeds, eventually, came to snap up the midfielder to their relief.

The Elland Road outfit paid €1.25m (£1m) to loan McKennie for the rest of the term under Jesse Marsch. Leeds also secured a €34.5m (£30.5m) option to buy the 24-year-old during the summer. It will become an obligation if the team secures their Premier League survival.

Juventus still hope Leeds United buy Weston McKennie after his loan transfer

Juventus hold out hope that Leeds buy McKennie at the end of his loan transfer. The Turin natives were eager to offload the midfielder over the winter before taking up Leeds’ offer. The Bianconeri are also already looking to a future without the Texas-born star at the club.

Allegri does not regret letting the USMNT star leave the Allianz Stadium for a second. He is the only player whom Juventus axed in January that the Italian does not miss. Even though McKennie started in 13 of his 15 Serie A appearances this season from 16 potential games.

McKennie also started in four of his five appearances in the Champions League as Juventus finished third in Group H. He offered two goals in the UEFA competition, as well, and fired once in Serie A alongside an assist. A thigh injury in October kept him from featuring more.

Jesse Marsch barely got to see what Weston McKennie could offer at Elland Road

McKennie, who Clinton Morrison has dubbed ‘outstanding’ for Leeds, is yet to score or lay on an assist in England. He has started in four of his five Premier League appearances thus far and has received three yellow cards. He also opened their 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Fulham.

Marsch only got to field McKennie for 33 minutes before Leeds sacked the American coach in February. He afforded the midfielder his debut in the Whites’ 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Michael Skubala would then bring him into the starting XI while caretaker manager.
