Leeds United must resist temptation to appoint under-23 boss Carlos Corberan.

Leeds United’s first team have struggled for results in 2018, with new manager Paul Heckingbottom winning just three matches.
By contrast the under-23s have been on a terrific run in recent months, playing attractive football and picking up wins.
This has led to fans calling for under-23 coach Carlos Corberan to take over as first team boss. It seems on paper a perfect in house solution.
It’s an idea which has merit, and Corberan is proving his credentials as a coach, but it’s just too costly.

Leeds have been here before with Neil Redfearn, when former owner Massimo Cellino promoted him from head of academy to first team coach.
Despite promise, it ended in tears. When Cellino dispensed with Redfearn’s services, he lost him from the academy too, it was a double blow.
It has taken three years for the academy to get back to it’s best, and for that, Corberan deserves credit.

Owner Andrea Radrizzani has been consistent from day one that he views the academy as integral to Leeds’ success as a club long-term.
Corberan is a central part of that success and despite the first team problems, Radrizzani must ignore temptation to call on his services and risk damaging the one part of his first season at Leeds which is actually proving successful.
