According to numerous reports, Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Feyenoord’s Luis Sinisterra.
Simply put, this could be one of the signings of the summer.
Much like his fellow countryman Luis Diaz, Sinisterra looks ready-made for the Premier League, so much so that he’s actually compared himself to Diaz in recent weeks.
Sinisterra was an absolute revelation last season, he banged in 23 goals and grabbed 14 assists in all competitions, while he also lit up the inaugural Europa Conference League, winning the Young Player of the Tournament award as his Feyenoord side made the final.
The attacker is your archetypal South American winger, quick, tricky, technically brilliant and willing to run his socks off for the team.
Of course, Leeds know all about South American wingers having watched Raphinha on a weekly basis for the past two years, and, almost painfully ironically, Sinisterra would have been perfect in the same team as Raphinha.
Just imagine having these two on opposite flanks. Leeds would have genuinely one of the scariest wing duos in English football.
Sinisterra and Raphinha attacking geniuses, but their ability to track back and press also make them a nightmare for the opposition in any area on the pitch, and if they were on the same team, Leeds would be almost unplayable down the flanks.
Sadly, we may never get to see this pairing combine. Raphinha seems set to seal a move away from Elland Road in the coming days, while Sinisterra may not arrive for a little while yet.
Leeds are going to come so close to having Sinisterra and Raphinha in the same team, but sadly, Premier League fans will probably never be treated to such a spectacle.
