Leeds United are reportedly in for a quiet January transfer window.

Phil Hay has said that he thinks it’s unlikely we’ll see Leeds do anything in the winter window, but Angus Kinnear himself has hinted that something could happen.

The Leeds CEO has said that United will spring into action if a deal that is too good to pass up looks feasible, and it seems as though Kinnear and Co could be eyeing up exactly that type of transfer.

Indeed, Leeds have been linked with a move for Wolves winger Adama Traore, and while that doesn’t seem like the most realistic transfer link in the world, his situation is basically exactly what Kinnear said Leeds would be looking for in January.

Nobody needs reminding just how gifted Traore is, his combination of pace and power has led to Nuno Espirito Santo describing him as a one of a kind player, and luckily for Leeds, he could be eyeing up an escape from Molineux.

The Spaniard is currently locked in what seems to be an unresolvable saga surrounding his contract, refusing to sign new terms time and time again, and he’s found himself on the bench more often than not this season.

If Traore’s contract situation isn’t resolved soon, the Midlands club could look to cash in on him, and as Kinnear says, if a player of a certain calibre becomes available, Leeds would be fools to not at least look into it.

Whether or not a deal can get done is a different story, after all, Man City and Liverpool were looking at him in the summer, and as much as Leeds are an ambitious club, Traore may feel that he can do a little better than playing for a side that was in the Championship last season.

However, stranger things have happened, so this one may be worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks.
