It appears as if Andres Clavijo might have been bitten by the Leeds United bug.
Leeds, who are 16th in the Premier League table now, played out a 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace on Monday night.
And Clavijo, who spent a couple of years at Elland Road as part of Marcelo Bielsa’s backroom staff, was photographed at Selhurst Park by a Whites supporter.
Here’s what Jonsmith_lufc posted on Twitter yesterday:
Clavijo announced that he had left Leeds in early March following the dismissal of Bielsa, but it would appear as if the Performance Analyst and translator to the Argentine manager has developed an affection for the Yorkshire club that will survive long after his employement.
United’s clean sheet on Monday is testament to the fact that Jesse Marsch, Bielsa’s replacement, has improved team though.
Well, defensively anyway.
Leeds have conceded eight goals in Marsch’s first seven Premier League outings in charge, which still isn’t a glowing record, but it is better than the 20 goals that the players shipped in Bielsa’s final five games at the club.
Despite being 66, Bielsa is already linked with a swift return to football and the Colombia job is seemingly up for grabs, with the veteran South American also touted for the Bolivia role.
Bielsa will not need the translation services of Clavijo on this occasion, given that both countries are predominantly Spanish speaking, but he was also more than a mere translator and it’ll be interesting to see if the legendary manager re-hires him at his next gig.
