Leeds could hire 45-year-old to replace Allardyce after contact was made

Leeds could soon hire Raul to replace Sam Allardyce regardless of what division the Whites find themselves in next season.

According to Cadena SER in Spain, the 45-year-old could now take a job abroad as Real Madrid are keen to send him away from his homeland to gain experience elsewhere, with a view to becoming their manager in future.

Now – after a story emerged in February – Leeds could be Raul‘s destination.

What’s the story?

Well – according to a report from AS back in February – Leeds made contact with Raul as they attempted to find a replacement for Jesse Marsch.

The Spanish news outlet claimed that Leeds made the Spaniard an offer, although he rejected their advances as he did not want to leave his role in charge of Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team of the Spanish giants.

Now – however – it sounds as if Raul may be pushed to try a foreign adventure.

Journalist Antonio Romero told Cadena SER: “The feeling is that at Real Madrid they are pushing Raúl to look for an adventure abroad to try to finish cooking as a coach.”

Allardyce has only signed a deal until the end of the season at Elland Road.

Therefore – even if he keeps Leeds in the Premier League – it seems as if the Whites will look to find a new manager, with Raul now an immediate favourite as Real Madrid push him to try a new experience.

Raul would be a risk for Leeds

In our view, appointing Raul would be a major risk for Leeds.

The Real Madrid legend has never actually managed a senior side before, let alone one outside of his native Spain.

Whether Leeds stay in the Premier League this season or not, they have to get their next managerial appointment right after the appointments of Marsch and Javi Gracia turned out to be huge disasters.
