RB Salzburg are now ready to help Leeds United secure a transfer for Maximilian Wober in January. Whites boss Jesse Marsch is eager to reunite with the centre-back at Elland Road.

That is according to The Telegraph, which reports Marsch has put Wober’s name on Leeds’ radar for January reinforcements. The pair won two Austrian Bundesliga titles together for RB Salzburg in 2019/20 and 20/21. Marsch was also behind Wober’s transfer from Sevilla.

A new defender is not a priority for the West Yorkshire natives but Marsch sees good value in Wober. RB Salzburg are prepared to accept bids worth £14m for the Wien-born enforcer and will also agree to favourable terms. So, there is much to appreciate with a likely move.

RB Salzburg would let Wober join Leeds in January and the Whites spread out the costs of his transfer. Die Roten Bullen are happy for the Whites to pay the fee in instalments over the course of his contract. But the Whites’ priority is to sign an attacking player in January.

Marsch, however, knows what Wober can offer after fielding the 24-year-old in 68 games across all competitions for RB Salzburg. The 13-cap Austria international has also captained Die Roten Bullen throughout this season. He has featured as a left and centre-half, as well.

Maximilian Wober is edging closer to a transfer from RB Salzburg to Leeds

Wober appears to be edging closer to a transfer from RB Salzburg to Leeds in the January window, as well. Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten has reported that the Rapid Vienna product has already completed a part of his medical with the Whites this Thursday.

It further adds that Wober is keen to take on a new challenge. He will not be present as RB Salzburg return from their winter break on January 4, either. Die Roten Bullen last played a competitive game on November 13 as Wober led RB Salzburg to a 1-0 win over Klagenfurt.
