Leeds United and Everton are among the clubs reportedly trailing West Ham United in the £30million race to sign Chelsea F.C striker Armando Broja this summer – a player Everton boss Frank Lampard raved about only in February.

The England-born Albania international has earned excellent reviews after an eye-catching loan spell with Southampton. Despite only being 20, the striker netted nine goals as the Saints avoided a relegation scrap.

He now returns to Chelsea F.C where he has a contract until June 2026 – but the chances are he will be sold. Reports claim that West Ham United are preparing an offer – but interest remains from Leeds, Everton and Wolves.

Speaking about the 14-time Albania international only in February, Everton boss Lampard recalled working with Broja during his time as Chelsea F.C boss. He was full of praise for the £30million-rated target man.

“I gave Armando Broja his debut at Chelsea F.C,” he said, via Hayters TV. “He’s a very nice lad, a good boy. He showed the attributes you’re seeing now. He’s fast, strong, has an eye for a goal. A very good player.”

Lampard raved about Broja: Leeds now trailing West Ham

While his goal record might not match the hype, it must be remembered that Broja offers so much more than goals. In his 11 substitute appearances in the league, Southampton only secured nine points – winning once.

But in his 21 starts, Southampton F.C were much better, picking up 25 points – winning seven times. He is not just a goalscorer, but a striker that brings the best out of those around him. He is perfect for West Ham.

They need a striker like Michail Antonio and Broja is ideal. But Leeds could do with Broja too, with Patrick Bamford injury prone and Joe Gelhardt still learning his trade. An intriguing summer awaits Broja.
