West Ham United want Armando Broja and have opened talks with Chelsea – but those negotiations seem to be a little tricky.

The Hammers secured their first major signing of the summer transfer window on Monday, bringing in Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd.

That’s a huge addition for West Ham, securing the signature of a quality left-sided centre back who should be vital for years to come.

David Moyes will now want more signings this summer and another striker to support Michail Antonio simply has to be a priority.

It’s now almost 18 months since West Ham sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax and he still hasn’t been properly replaced, so it’s time for the Hammers to sign a striker.

West Ham United want Armando Broja

It now seems that West Ham’s top striker target is emerging in Chelsea hitman Armando Broja.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that West Ham have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Broja.

Di Marzio claims that a deal isn’t close but West Ham are hopeful of a move worth between £25million and £30million.

That sounds pretty encouraging but The Telegraph’s update is less positive for West Ham.

They claim that Broja is indeed West Ham’s top striker target as things stand but Chelsea are making things difficult.

Chelsea haven’t yet told West Ham just how much they actually want for Broja as the Blues’ change of ownership in recent weeks has stalled a deal.

West Ham do have other targets in mind and may end up moving on if Chelsea don’t give them a straight answer over Broja.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Southampton and notched a decent record of six goals in 32 Premier League appearances.

Quick and skilful yet also physical and aggressive, Broja looks like he has the potential to become a very dangerous striker in the future.

West Ham want that future to be with them, but they face a wait to try and sign the striker labelled ‘really exciting’ by Gary Neville.
