Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have long been linked with Youri Tielemans, and there has been speculation this month that the Gunners could make a bid for the Leicester City and Belgium international midfielder in the January transfer window.

The Mirror reported last week that Arsenal are planning to make one last attempt to bring Tielemans to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners will reportedly make a bid for the Belgian in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who played for Belgium at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, is out of contract at Leicester at the end of the season.

Now, Arsenal may be feeling confident about securing the services of Tielemans, who cost Leicester £40 million in transfer fees (The Guardian), but it seems that the player may have other ideas.

According to Football.London journalist Kaya Kaynak on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Tielemans is leaning towards a move to Spain.

Marca have reported that Barcelona want to sign the Belgian star.

The former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners reportedly want to bring Tielemans to Camp Nou on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

And it seems that Tielemans could be leaning towards a move to Barcelona.

Kaynak said when asked if Tielemans to Arsenal rumour could be put to bed now: “No, you can’t put it to bed, but I think that the talk from Tielemans’s camp does seem to be that he is slightly leaning towards a move to Spain if it is to happen. Of course, that is purely because he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from January 1.”
