Lazio have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, yet Newcastle United and West Ham are also chasing the England midfielder.

According to Il Messaggero, former Premier League boss Maurizio Sarri has dreams of signing Loftus-Cheek this summer, with the 26-year-old long-been viewed as a target for Lazio ahead of the transfer window.

The Chelsea star, who earns a reported £150,000-a-week, has featured quite heavily for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, though reports indicate that Loftus-Cheek is still set to leave west London this summer.

Following the Todd Boehly takeover of the club, the American is reportedly ready to flex his financial muscle and strengthen Chelsea’s squad, with midfield a position that will be improved on with the futures of Jorginho and now Loftus-Cheek up in the air.

And Lazio now look like the favourites to sign Loftus-Cheek despite reports that both Newcastle and West Ham are also interested in the Premier League star, with Everton also chasing the midfielder.

Loftus-Cheek arguably enjoyed his best football ever whilst playing under Lazio manager Sarri, and the club’s interest in the Chelsea academy graduate could convince the midfielder to make the move to Italy this summer.

Serie A has often been a left-field destination for English players, but with former Cobham products Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori thriving in Italy this season, Loftus-Cheek could become the next name to break it in the division.

Under Sarri, as well, Loftus-Cheek, who was hailed as ‘unplayable’ by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, could find his feet again as the all-star midfielder many expected the 26-year-old to become during this stage of his career.
