Jalen Brunson’s next New York dream already has support from one of Law and Order’s most important names.
The Knicks star has a championship, a Finals MVP trophy, and a parade behind him.
Now, he wants to step into another New York institution.
Law and Order star backs Jalen Brunson’s SVU dream
Brunson said after the Knicks’ title that one of his next goals was to get on Law and Order: SVU, the show he has openly loved and one tied to his friendship with Mariska Hargitay.
“Absolutely. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but he’s a world champion. He can do whatever he wants. He’s got the force of will.”
That was Christopher Meloni’s response, and it lands because he is not just another actor from the franchise. Meloni played Elliot Stabler for the first 12 seasons of SVU, later returned through Law and Order: Organized Crime, and remains one half of the Benson and Stabler bond that has shaped the show’s lore for more than two decades.
Brunson already has a natural doorway. Hargitay has been one of the Knicks’ most visible celebrity fans during the title run, and Brunson has called her his favorite celebrity supporter. If SVU wants a New York sports moment, the league’s newest champion is available.
There is also precedent. Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh appeared as themselves in the 2011 episode Personal Fouls. Isaiah Thomas later appeared as himself in Complicated, while former Lakers forward Rick Fox has also acted on SVU.
Jalen Brunson’s cameo could open bigger doors
NBA stardom has always carried entertainment value beyond the court.

Michael Jordan made Space Jam a generational sports movie. LeBron James moved into Trainwreck, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and major production work. Shaquille O’Neal built a full-screen career, Ray Allen starred in He Got Game, Kevin Garnett earned serious praise in Uncut Gems, and Kyrie Irving turned Uncle Drew from commercials into a feature film.
Brunson does not need to chase that path now. He is in his prime, and the Knicks have a title to defend.
Still, an SVU cameo would be perfect because it would not require him to become someone else. He could play himself, carry the championship aura into a New York story, and test whether acting feels natural.
For a player who has become a city figure, that matters. Brunson has the title, the friendship with Hargitay, and now Meloni’s approval. That is a pretty strong casting pitch.
