Tottenham Hotspur failed to sign Lautaro Martínez in the summer of 2021, and in January, Spurs could see him lining up for Manchester City.
What’s the story?
Inter Live are reporting that City are interested in signing Martinez from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
The Argentina international striker is close to signing a new deal with Inter.
However, Premier League champions City remain interested and could make a bid of €90 million (£76.53m) for Martinez.
The Citizens are also willing to pay the 24-year-old €12 million (£10.20m) net per year as salary.

Will Tottenham Hotspur regret transfer failure?
If City do manage to sign Martinez – described by his Argentina international teammate Lionel Messi as “spectacular” – in the January transfer window, then it will be a massive blow to Spurs.
The North London club had agreed a £60 million fee with Inter over the signing of the striker in the summer of 2021, as reported by The Times in August.

The striker himself was open to a move to Tottenham, but then Inter sold striker Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and decided to keep hold of the former Racing Club player.
Spurs’ plan, according to The Times, was to have Martinez play alongside Harry Kane.
That would have been breathtaking, but it was not to be.
